Heart Wrenching

Silk Chiffon , Thread, Cherry Lumber Wood

I deconstructed my family photo on chiffon by dragging the thread out one by one until the faces in the image became unrecognizable. Then I used it to be held taut by the threads and pulled into the wooden box. This is the last sequence of my one year's thesis undergraduate project, which  I approached with a more expansion on material characteristic as a metaphor for my family relationship. As a matter of fact, the togetherness is just a disenchantment. This project is intended to create barriers that prevent viewers from experiencing the photograph, which imply to the ephemeral character of both memory and photography.

第四次尝试：我将印在丝绸中的家庭照一根一根地抽丝出来，直到图像中的面部变得无法识别，之后我将丝绸悬挂在自制的木盒子中间。这是本科的最后一个项目，我将物质材料的特性与我家庭关系的比喻做了进一步的延伸。实际上，相聚只是一种幻灭。在这个作品中，我有意使观者在观感上无法完全感受到影像的清晰度，这一性质有如记忆与摄影的短暂性。
